ANDY52 Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 \hi \all Problem with my 2002 1.9Tdi Galaxy Auto\well this prob started late last year with the engine cutting out. Was on the M11 in heavy rain when the engine just cut out managed to get to the hard shoulder and after a short time cranking the engine over she restarted. The door alarm light was flashing rapidly and then settled to what I thought was a sequencwe of 4 flashes with a pause between. After this incident she ran for months with out no furter probs. Till we started to get all the rain and sure enopugh started cutting out. It seemed like fuel starvation as she always restarted after a good crank. I think that water may have been getting in. I had a split in the plastic sheild that sits in the wheel arch on the nearside front and repaired that then took her out in heavy rain and she did not cut out and thought I had cured the prob. till last Thursday it was a dry day and you guessed she cut out and since them it has gotten worse I cant even stop witout it cutting out it will restart with a good crank but the next stop it cuts out. Still thinking it is fuel I replaced the filter but to no avail it still does it. She idles no prob and there is no loss of power but somthing I noticed yesterday while I was playing is rev it up and keep it sustained then press the brake peddle and the engine revs drop back to idle I dont know if thats norm coz Ive not done it before. Well boys and girls get ya tech knowledge on that. Quote
seatkid Posted August 7, 2007 Report Posted August 7, 2007 Its an electrical problem not a fuel problem. The flashing led is an error code.Check the area where the ECU / Immobiliser is (under drivers dash) for water ingress. (leaking window/bulkhead seal or grommets missing)You should also check your scuttle drains aren't blocked, causing the water to build up and find a weak spot on the bulkhead. Quote
ANDY52 Posted August 7, 2007 Author Report Posted August 7, 2007 Ok many thanks will go over that area tomorrow and try to dry it out Quote
